During the last week in February I had the privilege of traveling to an island in the Philippines and attending a conference there with an indigenous mission body, something I had been looking forward to for a long time now. The goal of my trip was to meet the frontline workers and explore opportunities for partnership with them. I am not able to go into great detail about where or who I met for security reasons, but I was able to talk with many missionaries and evangelists who expressed a deep desire to use audio Scriptures in their areas. They are highly oral cultures and, as in India, illiteracy prevails. These national workers are working hard at translating and recording Scriptures but have been doing so without much training. I was able to take along a couple of our digital units for them to try out and we discussed the possibility of setting up recording studios in areas that would be conducive for them. I had already anticipated a good response, but was more than thrilled by the eager response that I witnessed. We are now in the process of helping these missionaries and evangelists do recordings and distributions in their own communities. This is how we like to work, helping equip nationals for a task that they are already doing. It is really exciting to witness the power of audio Scriptures all over the world.
