Tom Dudenhofer, Executive Director writes;
The question came to me first; “How is the digital Scripture player being received in other parts of the world?”
Then the question was directed at the India regional center directors.. “how is the digital player received in your areas?”
I was visiting the Board of Directors meeting of World Cassette Outreach of India (WCOI). God had allowed ASM to ship digital players into the country prior to my visit and the responses were coming in. The answer to the question:
People love the players! And the miracle of changed lives continues as people get to hear God’s Word in their heart language.
At a recent distribution in Kovilpatti, my wife, Karen, and I were able to see first hand the enthusiasm, curiosity and thrill at hearing God’s Word. Men, women, pastors, and evangelists came out to hear the challenge and receive their Scripture players. All are charged a small amount,and the funds had been collected over several months. The process gave personal value to the players, and ensured that they would be protected and listened to on a regular basis. This distribution had been coordinated by a local pastor and his church. They hosted the meeting, provided a meal for everyone, and will engage in follow-up in the weeks and months to come. The full staff of WCOI was able to be present. It was a great encouragement!
After the distribution, we spent time with the WCOI staff, for the first ever staff retreat. The retreat had been graciously sponsored by a local church in the US and was held in mountains,surrounded by tea plantations (near Munnar). The narrow roads were full of hair-pin curves and close encounters with big buses. We shared meals, sang songs (in at least 4 languages!), shared the Word of God, and had a great time. We will all remember the trip for a very long time!
Since 2000, over 10,000 families have been provided Scripture listening players in India. This small glimpse reminded me of the vitality of commitment in the lives of those who follow Jesus, no matter where they live.
