Why do we work so hard for India?

Why do we work so hard for India?

Indian girlIn a few years, India will be the most densely populated country in the world. As a country that is only about 1/3 the size of the US, it hosts a startling 1.15 billion people. Within India, 460 million people over the age of 15, or 40% of the population cannot read. In rural areas illiteracy is more common, and many areas are seeking the hope that comes from hearing God’s Word. In a country that speaks over 1,000 languages, it is a great challenge to provide the scriptures for those waiting to hear.

This summer one team will work along with the WCOI staff in the use of new equipment. Others will visit the ministry in India. We look forward to the day when we will be able to host groups and teams in the new India Ministry Center on the campus of WCOI. We have received approximately one third of our goal of $ 375,000 for the new building. The longer we have to wait, the more likely prices are to rise.

Would you consider a special gift for the India Ministry Center? The 100 year old 50’ x 50’ building will be torn down, used to fill up the grade, and then a 4 story 50’ x 50’ building raised for training, visitor housing, and staff living quarters. Right now the response to God’s Word in audio has been overwhelming! God’s Word needs to continue to go out from here around the sub-continent.

The tremendous needs and abundant opportunities are why we seek to help reach India with God’s Word.
