Events from this summer

Events of this summer confirm the importance of moving as quickly as possible toward a Ministry Center building replacement in Bangalore for World Cassette Outreach of India (WCOI). ASM missionaries, JP and Katy Sundararajan, just returned from a 6 week stay in India and saw firsthand the need that exists there.
JP and Katy sat down to explain the wonderful opportunities in India.

What events did you see that reaffirmed the need for a Ministry Center?
We held a gathering for pastors and new believers to share testimonies that resulted from the Word for the Family Project.  It was a sweet time of praise and thanksgiving, but our lack of a meeting hall or conference room made it difficult for all to hear and effectively participate.  Meetings like this are an encouragement for all, but don't happen often because of the space limitations in my parent's home and office.
We also hosted four teams this summer.  One was a group of 12 from Northwestern College in Iowa.   Each day we spent a great deal of time coordinating transportation needs for the team between the guest house and WCOI headquarters. Meals were a tight squeeze around a table for six, intended for JP's family.  With a Ministry Center to house and host groups, these sorts of logistical challenges would be avoided.
From what you see, what specific needs will the Ministry Center meet?
Based on our experiences this summer, we know that the following needs would be met immediately:
•Meeting Hall for large groups
•Conference Room (Board meetings, etc.)
•Lodging (Internationals, Nationals, and Tribal Readers)
•Dining Hall
•Staff & Visitor Bathrooms
•Provide Living Quarters  for watchman
•Efficient Parking
•Most importantly, no more worries about flooding  
Is India really still open for evangelism?
Most definitely!  When just three pastors at our Testimonial Gathering were asked how many kits they could
distribute before the end of 2008, their responses were "5,000, 2,000, and 10,000."  That means 17,000 kits! Talk about a hunger for God's Word!!  And don't forget that WCOI works with hundreds of pastors all across India.
Here is where we stand with the India Ministry Center:
Praise the Lord that we have reached about 1/3 of our financial goal of $375,000. We really need your  help to keep the project moving. If 500 of our friends would give a special gift of $500, or if 250 could give a special gift of $1,000, we could begin building, and then deepen our impact on the non-readers of India who welcome the chance to hear God's Word in their heart language.
